Control The Risk Of Electric Overload

Control cables are considered for a large number of applications from connecting electrical components, secondary switching of remote-control starters and regulators, protective relaying and automation. These are also considered for transmitting signals which in turn help in regulating and controlling the functioning of the machines. Control cables are also known as per the various functions like instrumentation cables, multi-core cables, motor cables, robotic cables and control flex. Since these are critical electric components which involves risk and danger, it is always advisable to consult the leading manufacturers and pioneer dealers only to ensure you receive the most genuine products.

Application in USSR - Control cables India are manufactured for voltages ranging from 660 volts in AC and up to 1,000 volts in DC. It can also be used for ambient temperatures ranging from - 50° to 50°C. For insulated control cables India, the temperatures can be increased to 65°-70°C.

Composition of A Control Cable - Control cables function in a similar technology as that of bicycles, especially the bicycle brake. Just like the brakes regulate and control the movement, control cables actually control the movement of cables and wires carrying heavy or medium electricity load. It is constructed in the same way as other types, comprising of a plain copper conductor, sheath and a galvanized steel armour. Some may not have an armour but have a PVC compound on top of the sheath, this PVC is present in almost all the control wires which adds strength to the critical functioning cables and wires. Generally a control cable comprises of single copper or aluminum wires which again is made up of either four to 61 strands with a cross section of 1-10 sq mm and for cross sections from 4-10 sq mm the number of strands does not exceed ten. These are carefully insulated with rubber, polyethylene, or polyvinyl chloride and well sheathed with lead or plastic.

Types of Control Cables - There are 3 types of control cables, as mentioned below:

  • CY Control Cables - These are required in interference-free transmission where there is high degree of circuit integrity and interference prevents transmission of signal in low or medium voltage installations
  • SY Control Cables - These are comparatively tougher and a robust cable, which promises mechanical protection. There is a range of SY Cables, especially designed with a protective layer of galvanized steel wire braid and transparent PVC outer sheath. These cables provide flexibility and are easy to install, most importantly they provide a strong mechanical protection layer. A longer lifespan means reduction in costs in the long run, which is the ultimate benefit of control cables
  • YY Control cables - These are used in several applications for use in control, signal and power cables. These are known for their high level of flexibility, smooth installation process, strong and tough external sheath which protects the cables from acids, corrosive substances, oils, grease and other reactive substances.

Application of Control Cables - Control cable are generally used in applications where heavy electromagnetic pressure is required to be handled, in automation industry of food and beverage industry.

Remember, these are critical electrical components which involve the risk and danger of electricity load, so consult the best of manufacturers and dealers for the exact type, installation, usage, after sales and any troubleshooting.
